Pics from yesterday Urban Hike! I wish the beautiful weather we had stuck around today.
Month: April 2018
I had to wear khaki pants for a work event today. Khakis are something I’ve ALWAYS felt self conscious about wearing. Like no thanks I don’t want to wear flesh colored pants that emphasize my butt, thighs, and hips.
I currently only have one pair – that I’ve worn once maybe, but I pulled them out to wear today – without trying them on. This morning I thought “OMG I haven’t worn these in forever what if they don’t fit or are too tight” (tight khaki pants make me feel THE MOST uncomfortable). Thankfully not only did they fit, but they were a bit baggy.
Not feeling self conscious today was a major NSV for me!
Got this notification when I weighed in at Weight Watchers today!!!

48 “Kinky” Hours in NYC
On Saturday immediately after my urban hiking class, I took a 6PM bus to NYC that got in at 10:30PM. I headed straight to my sister’s in Long Island City and went to bed.
Saturday morning my sister and I caught up some before I left for brunch with three friends in midtown. My sister met up with me and my friends who came down from Boston to see KINKY BOOTS with us. My beloved David Cook (you may know him as American Idol Season 7 winner in 2008) debuted last week in Kinky Boots as Charlie Price.
I mean David was amazing, even better than I dreamed (he was funny, a great actor, had some physical “stunts,” and sang his face off), however, I was taken aback by how unbelievable the entire show was. The music and the message of the show are joyous. Wayne Brady is back as Lola and Kirsten from Pentatonix was Lauren in the show. What a trio of amazing. David is currently only in the show through May 5, but I suspect his contract might be extended. I’ve seen over 25 shows on Broadway and I highly recommend seeing Kinky Boots (with or without David, but I mean if you can see David…GO).

Spent Saturday night hanging out with my sister, doing sister things like ordered delicious NY pizza and watched Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction on Amazon Prime followed by the new season premiere of Trading Spaces.
We were up at 5:15AM yesterday so I could go with her to the Body Pump class she teaches uptown on Mondays at 6:30AM. In NY they already launched the 105 release (my gym is launching next week I think). It was a solid workout and I, clearly, pushed extra hard because I wanted to show off for my sister haha.
Before I knew it, it was 10:30AM Monday and I was back on a bus home.
AMAZING WEEKEND ALL AROUND!

*of course I got him to sign my Playbill at the stage door after
Talk about a Transformation Tuesday.
I made this collage for a new Weight Watchers facebook group I’m in and thought I’d share it here too.
I started my journey (and tumblr) in Jan 2010 and lost close to 50 pounds by early 2012. In Mar 2012 I ran the Los Angeles Marathon right before moving from AL to DC.
My new work and life transition halted my progress and I had some gains, but in 2014 I recommitted and did my first two spirit triathlons and got down to about 10 pounds from my lowest weight. However, of course, I began a relationship in summer 2014 (that led to an engagement in 2017, wedding likely in 2019) which stalled my efforts again. A new job and buying a house in summer 2016 coupled together put weight back on. I joined WW in Feb 2017 and had some good results, until some external stresses derailed me, however as of the New Year I’ve been focused.
The pics in the left are from late 2009 and the pics on the right are from early 2012. The one in the middle is me last month. I’m currently 8 pounds from my lowest weight and 2 pounds from a new “decade” on the scale.
We put the urban in Urban Hiking today!
And I got my first of three bi-weekly paychecks for teaching. This is honestly the best job I’ve ever had!
Missed my WW meeting on Thursday due to a work commitment. Had a good few days of eating (even with some roll over) was please to see this when I weighed in at home this morning. Peep that BMI: first time under 27 in yeeeears

Not shocked thanks to my period and overindulging on Easter and Monday as a result of some Easter leftovers!
April 4, 2:25AM
I found my book/musical.
The inspiration struck me like a lightning bolt just now as I drifted back to sleep after a middle-of-the-night pee.
For as long as I can remember I’ve always longed to write a musical, or at least the book for a musical. I’ve been writing in various capacities over the last 20 years and I’ve now just realized my concept and the story I have to tell.
I already hastily sketched out an outline, ideas, and a to-do list for myself.
I’m excited and scared and overwhelmed, but definitely excited.
I needed to document this moment because I know this is the start of something big! You heard it here first (or second, I wrote a quick tweet before posting here).
