It’s race time kids! 3 sports to celebrate 3 decades! (at Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center)

12 hours from now I’ll be getting ready for my first triathlon! In the mean time I’m just going rotate between being nervous, exited, and nauseous!
IN THE ZONE!
My Triathlon is this weekend! My Triathlon is this weekend!
I got my last major workout in yesterday. I biked 10.5 miles TO volleyball, playing my sand volleyball games and biked the 10.5 miles back. It was 3 hours of fitness fun.
After work today I’m going to get a 350m swim in and call it a day.
Tomorrow will be a rest day and then the race is bright and early Sunday.
Oh and can we talk about how I dropped a ton of weight since I weighed in on Wed morning. The scale read 183.0 this morning. After my NYC carbfest, I’ve tightened the belt this week and have been busting my ass. This is the lowest number I’ve seen in a while and I’m thrilled. I’m going to rest on Monday, but I want to stay in “training mode” incase I decide to do a Sept sprint triathlon (because I’m crazy).
I feel strong, I feel confident, I feel nervous, I feel excited, but most importantly I feel ready.
Got a free bike lock and bike map on a microfiber rag for registering my bike on campus! #score
Just scouted out my triathlon pool – 17 laps of 25yards. Now biking and running the course again. #raceweek (at The George Mason University Freedom Center)
Game Planning
10 days until race day
I leave for NYC tomorrow for a weekend o’ concerts (David Cook) and Broadway (If/Then and Hedwig), plus we plan on hitting up Oda House thanks to some yummy pics from veggielife and fromthebackofthepack.
The triathlon will be here before I know it – so here’s the plan:
- Today: Yoga/Volleyball/20min run
- Fri: NYC/Rest
- Sat: NYC/Rest
- Sun: NYC/600m Swim
- Mon: 30 min run
- Tues: BRICK – 30min Bike/10min run/20min/walk (on race course)
- Wed: 500m Swim/Kickball
- Thurs: Yoga/Volleyball/Bike 20mi
- Fri: 300m Swim/20min Run
- Sat: Rest
- Sun: Triathlon!
Bike rack = purchased (yes I know I’m missing a wheel – it’s in the trunk)
Pumping my Bod
Phew life has been so busy lately and tri training has picked up that I haven’t done a Body Pump or Insanity workout since 4th of July. I got in a Body Pump workout and hard core abs workout yesterday. Plus a 5K fun run.
I shouldn’t discount the fact that I’ve have my kickball league games which are wrapping up and that sand volleyball starts this week. I plan on biking to some of the games for added exercise.
I really enjoy leading an active lifestyle – I think this summer has been/will be a personal record in terms of both level and variety of activities.
2 truths and a lie
This Weekend….
- I cried while trying (for 30 minutes) to put my front wheel back on my bike before my test run of the tri course and also cried while riding because the course confused me until I noticed last year’s spray painted markers.
- I had an amazing time camping with T and another couple. It was fun cooking in the fire pit, playing games, not being attached to technology, and snuggling in a tent.
- I managed to go hiking and kayaking without bruising myself severely.
(check my previous post to see which was the lie)
No pain no gain. Left – arm after rock scrambling at Old Rag. Right – thigh/behind knee after practicing an unassisted rescue while whitewater kayaking. I bruise like a ripe peach and can’t wait to be back out in August!
