Modern Day Chivalry

I was just reading a FB article in my newsfeed about chivalry and I just had to share this little story.

T has been wonderful about regularly opening the car door for me when he is driving and I think it’s super sweet. Over the past month I’ve driven us a bunch since I’ve invited T to some concerts, events, etc and I know where I’m driving.

I teased him about only opening the door for me when I’m the passenger and not when I’m the driver. He joked how when I drive I should be opening the door for him. So lately when I’ve driven I’ve been opening the car for T (when I remember). I think it’s super cute of us. In fact once when I forgot T stood by his door and cleared his throat haha.

Even though it’s a silly example I really do like that T doesn’t have a caveman mentality about gender roles in relationships. My last serious ex once said I was “too dominant” in our relationship and he didn’t like it. I actually talked to T about that last weekend because while we were out I ordered both of our beers when the waitress came. I realized that maybe he didn’t like that I sometimes “take charge.” We had a good little chat about things and T said he doesn’t mind at all, in fact he likes it. We have a good balance between us and I can’t believe we are approaching 6 months together!

So ladies (and gentlemen) take that ramble for what it’s worth.

David Cook is less than $18,000 away from his $1 Million for Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure milestone.

We’re hoping to reach the goal TONIGHT before his benefit concert. Please considering donating to this cause on Giving Tuesday today. https://www.crowdrise.com/dc1million

This is a cause near and dear to my heart that I’ve been involved with since 2009. I’ve run 5 Race for Hope 5Ks over the years and was on ABC2’s LA Marathon team with David in 2012.

7 years

Today marks 7 years since my Dad passed away due to complications of gastric bypass surgery.

7 years is like a ¼ of my life that he’s been gone already. Out of tragedy I was finally able to find the motivation to get healthy and fit. I did the work, no shortcuts, no fad diets, and most importantly no surgery.

I post about my Dad every year on/around his anniversary, so check my archives if you want to read more…

Love you Daddy 4.25.49 – 11.18.07
