Last week: 193.4

This week: 197.0

Change: I gained. The 197 was flashing 195s and 196s, but for accountability sake I went with the highest one I saw.

I ran this morning for the first time since Saturday and thanks to the recent Ragnar debacle T and I are looking at March half marathons – having a training buddy will be nice and maybe speed me up again.

I will never understand weight loss, seriously. In 18 weeks of marathon training this go round I never saw a loss week like this. Now I’ve been barely running or working out and see this. I mean I’ll take it, but talk about a mind fuck. I do know that I have been eating smaller portions, most due to not wanting to spend time in my shared kitchen thanks to sloppy housemates. There is very little incentive to “get a little bit more” or “grab something as dessert.” It’s now “how much can I carry up the stairs while holding Freddie without flopping everything.”

Day I left for Dublin:  194.0

Today: 196.0

All things considered I’m happy with this number, especially due to all the potatoes, beer, and desserts consumed in Ireland!

I’m doing a 4 week post marathon recovery running plan, then I hope to dive into Ragnar (pending permits) training. I’m also considering re-joining Golds Gym since there is no less than a mile from my new place and I really need to do things aside from running, like spin class which I miss!

WIW – Marathon Weigh in

Today: 195.6

Last Week: 195.6

Maintaining….although I did see 194.6 this weekend. Regardless this will be my heaviest marathon weight.

  • October 2012 – MCM – I weighed ~182
  • March 2012 – LA – I weighed ~178

I don’t know why I’ve been struggling so much to lose the weight (20 lbs) I’ve put on in the last year. I’ve lost 10lbs, but I really want this other 10 off ASAP. I need to mix up my workouts more once this marathon is over. I need insanity and body pump back in my life. I also have plans to do another tri this coming summer, I loved why tri training did to my body.

Last week: 194.8

Today: 195.6

Change: +0.8

I’m not even sweating it, I’m eating pretty normally just with the taper my mileage is down (thankfully).

Here’s a little transcript from a FB chat with my college roommate (B) who just ran the Chicago Marathon.

B: The foam rolling happened but need more today. So painful but good at the same time.

Me: hurts so good as I like to say

B: I don’t know. There might have been some tears.

B: Can’t believe you’ve willingly done this more than once. You are amazing!!

Me: I actually signed up for my second one a few weeks BEFORE I did my first.

Me: So really I was foolish

B: LOL

Me: it’s taken 2.5 years to work up the courage for my 3rd and last one

What’s Up Doc

T had his physical today, first one in a decade!

Doctor said everything looked good, I even sent T with a list of things to ask/talk about. His blood work should be back in a few days and I’m hoping for another good report.

I’m so happy he went, not that I had any real concern, but with him training for a 12K I really just wanted to be sure.

Oh and I weigh like 6 lbs more that him. 6′0 and 186 lbs….jerk! He’s just shy of the healthy BMI (not that BMI is the end all be all) and I’m sure running and getting back to the gym will get him “healthy”  quickly.

Glad my wedding weekend indulges were counteracted by my 20 miler over the weekend and an additional loss ta-boot!

I definitely indulged while I was out of town, back to the grind. I also have a new battery in my scale so at least that’s a win at least.

WIW: Scale Fail

I was excited to get on the scale this morning.

I got on and saw 194.0 – yay!

I went to go write it on my calendar and then came back to weigh myself again to double check. I saw a bunch of numbers flash and the the screen said “Lo.” I tried again and the same thing happened. Le sigh.

The plan to to buy a new battery (it had been like 3.5 years) and hopefully get a pre-wedding weekend weigh in recorded tomorrow!

WIW: Drop it like it’s hot edition

This week: 195.4

Last week: 196.8

Change: -1.4

Wow I can’t believe 2/3 into training and the weight is finally coming off.

I’m down almost 10 lbs total in 12 weeks! (Half of the weight has come off in the last month).

Usually in long distance race training I lose weight at the beginning of training and then just plateau so this is quite the change, but I’ll take it.

I’m faster thanks to the weather and to actually being lighter!

It’s less than 6 weeks to race day if I could be in the 180s, even 189.9 that would be amazing!
