DC Snowmageddon Prep

measuringlife:

Tonight I plan to run as many miles as I can stand on the treadmill (shooting for 6-8, but ugh treadmills).

T is buying supplies – I made him a shopping list and grouped things by where he’d find them in the store.

Tomorrow I plan on dropping Freddie and my stuff off at T’s apartment before work so in the case that we close early or snow on my commute I can just drive straight to his place as opposed to stopping by my place (which is not on the way) to get Freddie and my stuff. I figure I’ll add an extra 30 minutes to my morning commute as opposed to Lord know what to my evening commute (it took some people 2-3 hours to get home last night in 1 inch of snow who left after 6pm).

I also plan on bringing my sneakers and ipod so I can do stairs this weekend since leaving the apartment will not be likely. T’s building is 15 floors – I’m sure I could rack up quite a bit.

Update:

Ran 7 miles on the treadmill while listening to Serial!

T braved the stores and got 85% of the items on the shopping list, I was able to pick up the rest.

My college already announced it is closed for tomorrow so I can sleep in and drive to T’s. He has to work until noon.

I’m hoping to knock out 10,000 steps each day this weekend, even if it’s just climbing stairwells.

Good vibes/prayers please

A job opportunity that my boyfriend has been waiting for over a year to post FINALLY posted today and is only open through Friday (that’s the federal gov’t for ya)! This would mean big things for us if he got it! Any positive thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

yoga

I’m thankful that the semester is winding down so I can go to yoga more frequently at work. I went last Monday after a month long hiatus and our instructor gave us a preview that today we would be doing twists.

It was a great class today, I felt so connected to my body. I’m not usually one who has a still mind, but yoga can usually focus me. If you’ve never tried a yoga class I strongly suggest it – perhaps a new years resolution?

I’ve been practicing yoga on and off since 2003-2004 when I signed up for a yoga PE class in college – taught by Michael Bolton’s ex wife (fun fact).

Namaste!

I need a change

New job is top of the list, I’m turning up my search game.

Renewed commitment to friends that I haven’t seen or talked to much lately (marathon training owning most of my fall is partly to blame and being in snuggle mode with T is also a culprit).

New clothes – or new to me clothes, hello Good Will – I’m beyond bored with everything I own.

I’m debating rejoining a Golds Gym. I need more non-running fitness in my life.

Back to work, back on schedule?

Today’s my first day back at work since my trip and it’s been a doozy! I just ate lunch at 3:45pm, due to my schedule still being off and just craziness (some fun, some sad, some stressful).

I took yesterday off to fully re-adjust, however day light savings and the brightness had me up early and of course last night I drove to Annapolis for a David Cook concert* that didn’t get me home until 12:30am and I didn’t fall asleep until 1:30am.

You’d think tonight I could catch up on sleep, but NOPE. I have another David Cook concert in DC tonight. No rest for my one of my top 3 favorite guys (he’s in good company with Freddie and T, but the order is always changing).

*Last night’s show was an acoustic set, that freakin’ jerk made me cry with one of his re-tooled for the acoustic show songs. Seriously it was a phenomenal show, his opener Andrew Riggs also was great. And OF COURSE, I had to stay after to chat with David. Got 2 hugs, chatted about my Ireland trip, his love of the Royals, and tattoos. No pictures because I was “playing it cool,” but we’ll see if I go to a picture tonight.

People are THE worst sometimes

  • Working with.
  • Working for.
  • Those that work for you.

Weeks like this make me wish I was a farmer or worked with the interwebs or SOMETHING that wasn’t living and breathing people who exist at times just to make my life harder.
