Get free from fear – don’t let fear hold you back or motivate you. Love yourself and love God. There is no room in love for fear. Love pushes fear out.

I don’t mean to get all “churchy” again, but the pastor’s message this week spoke to me as a person and also to my health and wellness.

I need to just LOVE myself and my life and not let irrational fears have ANY role in my life. I thought the pastor’s point about also not using fear as a motivator was a great one.

I shouldn’t eat healthy or work out because I fear being fat, I should eat healthy and work out because I love myself enough to do what’s best for it.

What a simple, yet powerful way to reframe things.

Got a new cut and color this weekend. Darker hair (hoping the coverage stays – I’m still battling my orange hair mauling from the summer). Also got a trim and an inverted cut (the front is long and it gradually on an angle gets shorter so the back is a few inches shorter). Loves it!

Successful full week of logging my day to day health related habits

  • Exercise
  • Vitamin
  • Sweets accountability
  • Eating after 9 accountability
  • Alcohol notes
  • WIW
  • Church – good for the health of my soul

I kicked off logging things on Jan 1 which was a Tuesday, so the picture of my book the week before wasn’t as chock full!

It’s crazy how knowing that before bed I have to write “yes sweets” if I had a cookie/candy/etc makes me NOT want to eat them because I don’t want to write it in my book later. I logged this stuff so regularly in 2010 and 2011, but fell off the wagon in 2012 so it feels good to be back and concretely holding myself accountable!

Sunday Funday

Today I went to brunch with some ladies that I went to college with – we were all RAs and OLs. There are a lot of people who I went to college with that live in the area so it was fun to get 4 of us together and to network a bit.

After brunch I went for a 4.5 mile walk with. My friend Sara, a walking date is fun, much better than just sitting and talking!

Buddy Run

Freddie and I were going to head out on a quick run and we were standing outside my apartment waiting for the garmin satellite to connect when I saw someone jogging up the hill – it’s my my half marathon neighbor friend. I haven’t seen her out randomly running before so we ran about a mile together chatting before we went out separate ways. Fun times!

Lose the doubt that becomes a wall. Use it as a doorway to push against and discover who you are and what you believe

The Pastor at the service I attended last weekend. I am hoping to get back into church after a hiatus since I moved. I do best when my mind, body and soul are all being cared for. This really spoke to me on all 3 levels

Random flirty exchange

I was walking across campus a few minutes ago to head to a meeting (and its a big deal meeting so I look extra pretty today) and I could “feel” someone a few steps behind me and when I approach the building I can see in the reflection of the door a guy speeding up behind me. Then I hear him say “you are hard to catch up to, to open the door for you.” as he said that I looked at him and he was a cute tall guy. I laughed and said I was notorious for being a fast walker. He held the first door for me then I told I’d slow down so he could hold the second door for me. We chatted momentarily and I said I always get teased for how fast I walk and that I blame having long legs and being a New Yorker. He said with a charming smile “well those are two good things you have going for you.”

I almost fell over. Bold sir…I like your style. If I wasn’t running to a meeting I would have tried to flirt more. Gosh that was a fun and flattering unexpected exchange!
