Travel Travel

Greetings from Philly!

I took the train up and arrived yesterday afternoon for a work conference.

Lots of extroversion which I love! Lots of food and drink, which I also love.

I’m mostly tracking, but I know I’m over my points. Getting steps in and plan to work out tomorrow. I get back home Wednesday afternoon so I’m planning on working on then too.

Body Pump Fail

This time I wasn’t to blame. I even got to class early (well 5 min early), however by the time I went to get my equipment they were out of clips to keep the weights on my bar.

Dafaq.

Seriously class wasn’t even packed to the gills per usual and there were plenty of bars and weights. I made due holding weights/plates. I focused on form and getting deep with my squats.

But believe you me I complained at the desk before I left. I ONLY go to this gym location on Mondays for Body Pump. Also 2 of the treadmills I tried to use had squeaky belts. They need to get their act together.

Re-Learned Lessons

The recent changes in my body have been riveting. I’m back at my lowest weight since summer 2014. I am remembering how different/”easier” some workouts are when you have less body mass and are stronger. For example, rotating hovers – something that used to be so difficult for me and then just this week they felt like a “breeze” – I guess that means I have to start doing them on my toes. The same thing goes for push ups.

It’s almost like coming out of amnesia (i’m guessing), I’ve been getting flooded with memories of when I was able to do a workout (like plank jacks) with “ease.” I feel like I truly repressed them after I was too out of shape/heavier to do those workouts the same way.

The psychological aspects of weight loss never cease to fascinate me.

What constitutes exercise Fitbit?!

I get super frustrated that my Fitbit doesn’t recognize Body Pump or Spin as “exercise.” I understand it not recognizing yoga or pilates, but really my heart rate was solidly in the fat burn zone for most of yesterday’s Body Pump (same for spin last week). In fact, this release of Body Pump (despite hating almost all the music) has had me working the hardest, even with my recent weight ranges I put on the bar/hold.

Oh and I know on my Fitbit I can “start a workout” but I’m a millennial, I want instant. I know I am working out so I don’t NEED Fitbit to recognize it, but I’d like it to.

Oh and yesterday’s pilates class was also sweat-inducing. A colleague and I are going to be fitness class buddies on Mon & Wed. I have a meeting before the Mon class, so it was nice to roll in and she had a mat set up for me next to her yesterday. I think on Wednesday we can generally walk together to and from class.

Back to “Normal”

Last week was hard. Between my friend C losing her dad, Freddie’s ultrasound, and going to Boston for funeral services.

However despite all that terrible stuff, there was so much love. I have good people in my life and the good people in my life have good people in theirs.

I saw so many people from college and folks who work in higher ed also (she and I are both in the field) who came out to support my friend C and mourn the loss of her dad that so many of us got to know and love too.

I feel like despite not getting out workouts in since Wednesday night, I didn’t drink too much alcohol or overindulge too much.

Freddie is on some new meds and goes back for bloodwork next Friday and then another ultrasound in ~4 weeks.

I went to pilates at lunch today and will hit up bodypump after work. Oh and at the airport yesterday I got a 10 minute seated massage and it was glorious.

Icy Monday

Well my plan to see my therapist and go to body pump after work were foiled due to icy conditions. Work closed at 2pm due to weather. Seems whoever was open closed earlier because the commute was busy home.

I did have a quick indoor lunch walk with a friend, but I also came home a did a 35 min youtube yoga workout and climbed up and down the stairs of the house for 15 minutes ta-boot.

Next I’m attempting @amanda-healthyhappywhole‘s Greek Lemon Chicken Soup!

Lunch Miles

Spent 40 minutes of my lunch break walking 2 miles on the treadmill at the gym at work. Today’s been SUPER quiet at work and I was getting restless. I’m so glad I went and got my blood pumping – even though I plan to go to Body Pump and walk some on the treadmill later.

Weight loss and weight maintenance is a neverending journey and that’s okay. I just need to work on balance, that’s my goal for 2018.
