I saw this on Instagram yesterday and I thought I’d share because it really spoke to me.

Back to work, back on schedule?
Today’s my first day back at work since my trip and it’s been a doozy! I just ate lunch at 3:45pm, due to my schedule still being off and just craziness (some fun, some sad, some stressful).
I took yesterday off to fully re-adjust, however day light savings and the brightness had me up early and of course last night I drove to Annapolis for a David Cook concert* that didn’t get me home until 12:30am and I didn’t fall asleep until 1:30am.
You’d think tonight I could catch up on sleep, but NOPE. I have another David Cook concert in DC tonight. No rest for my one of my top 3 favorite guys (he’s in good company with Freddie and T, but the order is always changing).
*Last night’s show was an acoustic set, that freakin’ jerk made me cry with one of his re-tooled for the acoustic show songs. Seriously it was a phenomenal show, his opener Andrew Riggs also was great. And OF COURSE, I had to stay after to chat with David. Got 2 hugs, chatted about my Ireland trip, his love of the Royals, and tattoos. No pictures because I was “playing it cool,” but we’ll see if I go to a picture tonight.
Food Floorplan
I’ve been at my new place for 3 weeks and I’ve noticed that I haven’t been snacking hardly at all while home.
Granted I haven’t been home as much in these past 3 weeks and I’m in the throws of marathon training, BUT I had the thought last night that perhaps I’m not in the kitchen as much because now it is a floor away, as opposed to within eyeshot.
At my old place my kitchen was right outside my bedroom and also easily accessible from the living room (where I spent most of my non-sleeping home hours).
At my new place my master bedroom (which also has a couch/tv so it’s my downtown space too ) is on the 2nd floor. The kitchen is in the back of the townhouse on the ground floor so I’d have to “go out of my way” to go in there. Since I’m in a large townhouse with others I haven’t been spending much time in the “common areas.” The kitchen is now a place I go to cook or wash dishes. It’s a very different dynamic.
So yeah, I had this a-ha moment last night when I made my dinner brought it up stairs and when I finished I was still a little hungry, but I didn’t want to go downstairs to “fully fill” my stomach when I knew I ate plenty. Next thing I knew it was going to bed and hadn’t thought about getting more food to eat since it flashed through my mind two hours before.
I’ll be curious to see how my relationship with the kitchen goes at my new place..

I’m feeling good
Physically, emotionally, mentally.
I started back on shakeology today thanks to a black market bag from a coach friend. I need to tighten up and a nutritious shake for breakfast is an easy way to start.
However I did forget how quickly Shakeology “moves through your system.” I pretty much ran to the bathroom as soon as I got to the office!
Run 5/71 went well yesterday. Went to my Joggers and Lagers group for the first time since early May. The motivation of other runners around helped me keep my speed up – averaged an 11:32/mi.
I also decided to do my long run at the beach this weekend. If I’m going to be sweaty anyway and have a bunch of crap to drag to the beach, might as well start my beach time with a run on the boardwalk and then lay out and play in the water to recover!
Partner Yoga
My employer sponsors lunch time yoga 2x which I go to as often as my schedule allows. I am making extra effort to go at least 1x week during marathon training.
Today for most of the class we did partner yoga. I’ve never done it before, but loved it. I ended up being paired with a lady who was 5 inches shorter than me, but still great. Stretches, balance poses, getting to go deeper in poses. Good stuff.
Week 1 in review
Marathon training kicked off last week. I got my 4 scheduled runs in, plus a yoga class, and a shit ton of walking at Busch Gardens.
I’m slowly re-finding my groove. I may be slow, average just under a 13 min/mi pace with walk breaks. I’m using the run 2-3 songs, walk 1 song strategy to build up endurance as well as acclimate again to the weather.
I have a lot of out of town weekend plans this summer, but I’m making plans to carve out “long run” time.
I talked with T over the weekend about how I need him to support me and my training. How I only want to drink 1x week and how I need to get my training runs in #noexcuses. So far so good – see yesterday’s post about him buying groceries and prepping breakfast while I was on my run, followed by a foot massage.

I haven’t read this yet, but am intrigued and wanted to post for reference!
The cycle of fitness
The harder I push my body -> the more water I drink -> the better I sleep

I don’t reblog often, but this was worthy!
Me 50% of the time: I love to run. Green beans are amazing. Who needs cake when I can have strawberries. PROTEIN. Oh my god peanut butter. I have so much energy! This is my fourth bottle of water today. I love being healthy.
Me the other 50% of the time: I want to sleep for 6 years. When did my bed become heaven. Why did I eat 3 twinkies. I’m too lazy to put on a bra. Being a girl sucks. I don’t feel like exercising.
